The Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Kosovo (YIHR KS) invites all social science students of Kosovo`s public and private universities to apply for the third edition of the Alternative School for Human Rights.

The Alternative School for Human Rights is organized with the aim of educating and empowering young people to properly identify and treat human rights violations, gender equality and minority rights. The program will provide alternative opportunities for acquiring knowledge and practices, which are lacking in the existing higher education system in Kosovo. This school also aims to bring together young people from different communities to discuss human rights, gender equality, the rights of non-majority groups and the activism of young people in Kosovo.

The program will last for 2 weeks (July 20-31) and the 25 selected participants will participate in the program three times a week. In addition to lectures with experts in the field, participants will have the opportunity to virtually meet representatives from the Ombudsperson Institution, the Basic Court in Pristina, Kosovo Parliament, RYCO Office in Pristina, as well as representatives from civil society, activists from relevant organizations etc.

As a follow up of the Alternative School a potential visit to Belgrade will be organized.

The Alternative School will be held in English and at the end, all participants will be certified.
