Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Kosovo (YIHR KS) supported by Civil Rights Defenders (CRD) was invited by a group of students and held a lecture for the students of the University of Prishtina, Faculty of Philosophy, department for Social Work on the topic: “Human Rights, the principle of non-discrimination and persons with disabilities “.

The aim of the lecture was raising awareness of the future Social Workers about the principles of Human Rights and Social Justice as fundamental principles of social work. Furthermore, the aim of the lecture was to make the students reflect on the rights and the fundamental freedoms of persons with disabilities. The lecture was delivered interactively. Two members from Handikos were invited as well and they talked about their daily challenges. They confessed to the students that often they are victims of discrimination and as a result some of their basic rights are violated, such as freedom of movement, the right to education, employment, etc.

The lecture was well received by students and opportunities for further cooperation were discussed.
