Open Call: Expert for Human Rights Network Strategy

About YIHR KS

Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Kosovo (YIHR KS), established in 2004, is a human rights organization which works towards protecting and promoting human rights and democratic values ​​not only in Kosovo but also in the Western Balkans region. In particular, YIHR KS is focused on the processes of dealing with the past, protecting human rights and the rule of law, and strengthening youth at the local and regional levels.

Background and purpose of the consultancy

Youth Initiative for Human Rights Kosovo (YIHR KS) as part of  Human Rights Network (HRN) is looking for an Expert to work with us and our members of Human Rights Network to develop the strategy of Human Rights Network 2025-2030. The HRN is dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights in Kosovo. We strive to empower communities, advocate for justice, and foster collaboration among human rights defenders. As we move forward, we recognize the need for a comprehensive strategy that aligns our objectives with current global human rights challenges.

Objective

HRN seeks an experienced expert to develop a strategic framework that will guide our initiatives, enhance our impact, and strengthen our network. The strategy should encompass advocacy, capacity building, partnerships, and communication, ensuring alignment with HRN’s mission and vision.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a thorough assessment of HRN’s current initiatives.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including HRN members, partners, and beneficiaries, to gather insights and feedback.
  • Analyze current trends in human rights and identify emerging challenges and opportunities.
  • Develop a comprehensive strategy document outlining goals, objectives, and actionable steps.
  • Provide recommendations for monitoring and evaluation to measure the effectiveness of the strategy.
  • Present the strategy to HRN leadership and stakeholders for feedback and finalization.
  • Incorporate the comments and recommendations derived from the meeting with HRN members.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in strategic planning, preferably in the human rights or nonprofit sector.
  • Strong understanding of global human rights issues and the role of networks in advocacy.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and facilitate discussions.
  • Previous experience working with international organizations is an asset.
