Human Rights Week – Volume 10

Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Kosovo (YIHR KS) is pleased to invite you to the tenth edition of the Human Rights Week happening from 6 – 10 December 2023.

This year we mark a decade of Human Rights Week! The 10th-anniversary, under the slogan “My Right, Not Your Personal Opinion”, will focus on hate speech that targets marginalized communities. Through many activities for 5 days, we will discuss and raise awareness against hate speech. We will also highlight the impact of hate speech in reinforcing stigma, discrimination, and violence among marginalized communities in Kosovo. This edition of Human Rights Week brings attention to human rights principles as a set of inalienable and universal rights. Hate speech that is promoted under the justification of personal opinions directly contradicts the principles of equality and non-discrimination for all people regardless of their identities. Therefore, this edition emphasizes that our human rights are personal but never dependent on personal opinions.
