The Youth Initiative for Human Rights is the winner of this year’s “Ahen Peace Prize 2024” together with the organization Omas gen Rechts.

This important recognition of the initiative’s work comes in very challenging times when the preservation of peace is a global imperative.

We see this award as the result of our twenty-year fight for a region in which the main values are peace, responsibility and justice.

We dedicate the award to all the people who have suffered irreparable losses by the wars in this region, as well as to all the activists with whom we persistently try to make our region a good place for everyone.

“This award comes at just the right time for us and all our activists across the region. It is important that in the struggle for peace organizations, informal groups and individuals know that they are not alone, and it is even more important that their efforts are recognized especially when operating in hostile environments. ”

The official award ceremony will be held in Ahen, Germany 1. September 2024
