Organization: Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Kosovo (YIHR KS)
Position: Research Expert
Overview: YIHR KS is seeking a Research Expert to collaborate on a joint research project with New Social Initiative (NSI) focusing on civil registration issues faced by non-majority communities in Kosovo. The project aims to assess current administrative instructions and other regulatory measures governing civil registration, with a particular focus on complaint procedures. The research will employ both qualitative and quantitative methods, with the Research Expert specifically responsible for qualitative analysis.
Terms of Reference (ToR) for Research Expert
- Coordinate closely with the Main Researcher from NSI on all aspects of the research concerning civil registration and access to documents among non-majority communities.
- Review the existing legal framework pertaining to civil registration, including reports from relevant institutions, both national and international (governmental and non-governmental), and compile a summary of key findings.
- Collaborate with the main researcher to develop questionnaires for conducting in-person interviews with institutional representatives and affected citizens.
- Conduct and summarize findings from 10 interviews and incorporate them into a comprehensive report to be submitted to the Main Researcher by the end of November 2024.
- Remain available to the Main Researcher for any further clarifications required during the drafting of the report.
- Ensure anonymization and confidentiality of information in the final report upon request from interviewees.
Contract Details:
- Duration: 20 working days spread across 5 months (August – December 2024).
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Law, Social Sciences, International Relations, or similar.
- Proven experience in qualitative research methodologies, particularly in conducting interviews and analyzing qualitative data.
- Familiarity with civil registration issues, human rights frameworks, and Kosovo’s legal context is desirable.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Albanian (knowledge of Serbian would be an asset).
