YIHR KS reviewed a number of articles and comments from January to May 2023 containing hate-speech in Kosovo, as part of the “Anti Hate-Speech in Western Balkans” project supported by the CIVIL RIGHTS DEFENDERS and implemented by Helsinki Committee for Human Rights. Hate speech was monitored in three other regions as well: North Macedonia (Helsinki Committee for Human Rights), Serbia (YUCOM) and Albania (Helsinki Committee for Human Rights – Albania).

In all regions hate speech was identified on several grounds, of which the following were registered as the most prevalent in all countries: hate speech based on ethnicity, hate speech based on gender and sexual orientation, hate speech based on political affiliation, and hate speech against women.
