The Waiting Door

“The Waiting Door” gathered us on the International Day of Enforced Disappearances at Skenderbeu Square to carry the weight of the 1612 missing persons from the last war in Kosovo. This was a day of solidarity with all family members, as much as it was a day that called for accountability and immediate action from our institutions.

The door installation we placed at the square symbolized the agony and grief of the prolonged waiting for the enlightenment of the fate of the forcibly disappeared.

We continue to call on our institutions to prioritize justice for the missing persons’ fate as a key factor in peacebuilding and reconciliation.

Together, we stand in solidarity with all the families of the victims of enforced disappearances and send the message: we will not rest until justice is served, until the truth is revealed and until the fate of the 1,612 missing individuals is enlightened.
